Services Provided

At Legacy Dental, we provide comprehensive dental treatment for the entire family. Young or old, cosmetic or general dentistry, we specialize in all fields.

The following is a short summary of the more common treatments we provide:

Tooth Coloured Fillings

Unless the situation really requires a different choice of material, or you choose otherwise, we use dental Composite resins to restore teeth.

Composite resins are synthetic resins composed of Bis-GMA, a filler material such as silica, and a photoinitiator. They come in a variety of tooth coloured shades, and if placed with skill, are indifferentiable from natural tooth.

Dental Cleaning

Gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in North America. Due to "periodontal diseases", you may lose the supporting bone around your teeth and find that perfectly healthy teeth have become loose and are falling out.

Regular dental cleanings by trained professionals, as well as good hygiene at home, helps prevent periodontal disease. We call our patients regularly to ensure they do not miss their scheduled dental hygiene appointments because often, the damage from periondontal disease cannot be reversed!

Crowns/Caps

A crown (cap) is an artificial cover that is placed on individual teeth to restore and protect a damaged tooth to its regular appearance.

Dental fillings can achieve the same thing often, but when fillings become too large, they become unreliable and prone to failure. If there is insufficient tooth remaining for a filling, a crown is a better treatment alternative.

Crowns can be made of gold, silver, porcelain, or a mix of the three, which makes them far more durable and strong than dental fillings - so replacements are needed less often. Aesthetically, crowns are superior to other procedures including dental fillings.

Because crowns can be more costly, at Legacy Dental, we only recommend them if they are truly required.

Dental Implant Placement

A missing tooth can compromise your chewing, speech, appearance and overall health.

For most cases, the best method to replace a tooth is through a dental implant. A dental implant is a small titanium screw that is placed in the upper or lower jaw where the tooth has been lost. They behave like a natural tooth and are the best means of replacing a tooth.

Many dental offices only "restore" the dental implant. Our office places the implant and restores it - meaning no need to visit the costly specialist for half of the treatment.

Dentures/Removable Plate

If you are missing several teeth, a partial or complete denture is often the cheapest, most reliable way to replace those teeth. Our office makes both types.

Fixed Bridges

Fixed bridges replace missing teeth, making chewing easier, improve aesthetics and help keep things healthy.

We tend to underappreciate the value of every tooth. Each upper tooth contacts a corresponding lower tooth, allowing for well-balanced chewing. When you lose even a single tooth, you lose this essential balance. A missing tooth creates space between your teeth that can allow for other teeth to start shift and drift into.

A fixed bridge is essentially a means of replacing missing teeth using porcelain crowns/caps that are attached to one another. There are advantages and disadvantages replacing teeth with fixed bridgs over dentures or implants.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is essentially "dental bleaching". Whitening helps to restore natural tooth colour. There are many methods available for tooth whitening, ranging from toothpastes to laser bleaching. Not all methods are effective, and success depends on your particular case.

A simple consultation will allow us to suggest the best means of getting your teeth white so you don't waste your money and time on ineffective methods.

Wisdom Teeth Removal

Wisdom teeth, or third molars, are the last teeth in our mouth to come in. They are not essential for speech, chewing or aesthetics. For many people, their jaws are too small and there may not have enough room for these these to fully come out. Often wisdom teeth lead to other problems developing and require removal.

If after consultation we determine that your wisdom teeth require removal, we are fully equipped to take them out on nitrous sedation. The procedure is pain-free and the "laughing gas" helps alleviate anxiety in even the most anxious patients.

Root Canals

There are many reasons why a root canal is needed, but the most common is when a cavity is neglected and becomes too deep. Once a cavity has reached the pulp of the tooth, a simple filling will not be enough - root canal therapy is required.

Root canal therapy is not painful at all, if done properly. Our office is equipped to perform root canal therapy on any tooth.
